Daxita Rajcoomar is the Chief Sustainability Officer at ENGIE AMEA where she leads strategy on sustainability to promote ENGIE’s carbon-neutral vision. Leveraging the lessons she picked up working across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, Rajcoomar believes in empowering her team to achieve collective goals by setting clear directions, fostering ownership, and building trust and confidence in her team. 

An advocate for environmental protection, Rajcoomar believes that alignment and inclusion are key for effective leadership. She tells us that setting directions and fostering a sense of ownership and commitment help her build trust and confidence in her team.  “I value collaboration and inclusivity in my leadership style. One of the key aspects of leadership I practice is ensuring that my team has a shared understanding of our strategic goals,” she says.

“In my career, the most significant challenge has been the responsibility of developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive sustainability strategy across multiple regions, including Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.” To overcome this, Rajcoomar established a collaborative approach to achieve a win-win outcome in every situation. During the process, she realized the importance of adaptability, clear communication, and hands-on support. “Through this approach, I was able to not only meet our sustainability objectives but also build strong relationships with local teams, fostering a culture of shared responsibility and continuous improvement,” she says.

Rajcoomar is clear about her mission. She wants to empower people and organizations, and pioneer innovative and sustainable solutions. Staying true to her core values and mission, she remains involved in several social initiatives, including projects in India and Pakistan for water and energy solutions; conserving biodiversity and using drone technology to restore mangrove forests; working on youth development programs; and strategizing diversity and inclusion programs to empower women.
