Alisha Moopen

Managing Director
Aster DM Healthcare

As managing director and group CEO of Aster–one of the largest and fastest-growing healthcare conglomerates in the MENA region–Alisha Moopen is passionate about healthcare. Overseeing Aster’s operations in India and the GCC, she leads a company with over 14,000 employees. “Our vision is to serve the world with quality healthcare that is easily accessible,” she says.

The most significant challenge of her career was navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced Aster to adapt quickly, innovate, and optimize for operational efficiency, which led it to launch one of the first telehealth services in the UAE. “We were one of the first healthcare players in the UAE to introduce telehealth, enrolling 800 doctors across five countries within eight months, providing 100,000 consultations,” she says. From digital transformations to practical initiatives, Aster was quick to respond to the crisis.

“During the second surge in India, over 100 Aster doctors from the GCC provided free teleconsultations to COVID-19 patients,” she says, explaining how initiatives like the E-ICU model allowed critical care experts from different countries to become part of a central hub that was able to respond to the critically ill.

As managing director, Moopen puts people first. “At Aster, we have always believed in people first, matching the right talent with opportunities and empowering them to achieve the organization’s collective goal,” she says.

Eager to lift humanity and connect hearts with her social and community initiatives, Moopen remains passionately involved with the Aster Volunteers program, which launched in 2017. Catering to over five million people globally, it continues to treat, support, and assist people from all walks of life. “This initiative reflects our commitment to making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve,” she says.
